The Project
These clients love color, which made the whole first floor a good job to be on. Two of the rooms in it were bathrooms.
The guest bath was rebuilt, not refreshed. A one-inch deco floor tile in a coffee tone with a frost grout, a near-black wainscot under a black butterfly wallpaper, a classic white pedestal sink and a matching toilet, a brass faucet, and an antiqued gold arched mirror under an aged brass vanity light.
The pool bath did not exist before this project. We built it with a basketwoven Carrara marble mosaic floor, twelve-by-twenty-four porcelain shower walls, a white penny mosaic shower pan carried up as wainscot, quartz counters, and champagne bronze fittings. The wallpaper in there is a winter print.
The surprise was electrical. What was behind the walls was a mess, and reworking it into something safe and lasting cost time nobody had planned for. We would rather find that and say so than put finishes on top of it.
